Bellissimo questo brano, anche se triste...

Col concetto cristiano della vita, l'amore non è una necessità e non si esercita su nulla; esso è una facoltà essenziale dell'anima umana. L'uomo ama, non perché ha interesse di amare questo o quello, ma perché l'amore è l'essenza dell'anima sua, perché egli non può non amare.
La dottrina cristiana insegna all'uomo che l'essenza dell'anima sua è l'amore, che la sua felicità non è di amare la tale o la tal altra entità, ma bensì il principio di tutto, Dio, ch'egli ha coscienza di contenere in sé. Ecco perché egli amerà tutti e tutto.
